What are the Benefits of Treadmill Exercise? You may choose to walk or run on a treadmill both are great exercises. Many say that it is only truly beneficial if a person jogs or runs on a treadmill. It has been shown however that this is simply not true, as in regards to what the benefit of treadmill exercise is, the answer is many things, and this refers to both running and walking on the treadmill.

For many of us the most important consideration of exercising on exercise equipment is that it burns calories, period. Running on a treadmill burns more calories than jogging does, which of course in turn burns more calories than walking does. Let's keep this in perspective though because the key thing about all exercise equipmentbis that you are burning calories which is what truly matters. It may take a little longer to see results if you are only walking on a treadmill but the results will happen and that is your objective.

Treadmills provide great exercise

While walking on a treadmill exercise equipment may at first seem just like walking everywhere else remember there are some nice advantages. The nicer ones have the added benefits of being able to increase the incline of your walk. They also have a feature to increase your speed or program a variable speed walk. Most importantly one always has smooth walking conditions with no concerns about hazardous road conditions underfoot. Being able to quickly change your walk from a steep incline to something more leisurely is a great benefit.

Remember, many consider walking to be a superb exercise particularly when done for a sustained period of time on a regular basis. This makes it possible for almost anyone to reap the benefits of treadmill exercise. This provides a safe reliable exercise for older people with limited mobility as well as pregnant women who are seeking safety in exercise.

Of course running is a terrific form of exercise. When running on exercise equipment one can readily monitor their pace as well as the calories burned per hour. One can easily burn more calories per hour by running than most other exercises such as walking or biking.

These estimates vary from situation to situation or even person to person and need to be considered just that estimates. That is why using exercise equipment for running or walking is so great. Most treadmills for example have counters that will actually show your calories burned per exercise session. You also get an exact measurement of your distance traveled as well as your speed. It is also possible to get a reading of your exercising heart rate.

Measurements of current activity and progress throughout a person's exercise session are very beneficial.
